This conference paper discusses the Twilight Talks program of public lectures which aims to improve the delivery of consumer health information to the Darling Downs community in Queensland.

Australian health libraries and their staff comprise an important part of the health information workforce, alongside health information managers and health information specialists by providing quality information to improve patient care, evidence based practice and research support, specialist resources, outstanding value and return on investment, information literacy training, and decision ready information.

In late 2009, Health Libraries Australia (HLA) received a small grant to undertake a national research project to determine the future requirements for health librarians in the workforce in Australia and develop a structured, modular education framework (post-graduate qualification and continuing professional development structure) to meet these requirements.
 

The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) submission in response to the Digital Health Agency consultation discussing the value of Australian Public Library Alliance (APLA) and Health Libraries Australia (HLA) as partners in the provision of access to authoritative health information.
